Enjoy your stay at the Hotel Aveyron, to discover, in the heart of the highlands of the Aveyron, the Aubrac plateau.
It is the place to take a breath of fresh air, on foot, by bike, on horseback, or skiing and snowshoeing in winter.
On 2,500 km2, forests and pastures share the plateau of Aubrac. After the transhumance which marks the beginning of the beautiful season at the end of May, we cross the herds of cows of the magnificent Aubrac breed, around innumerable shelters of shepherds called "burons".
Here, you will be flooded with emotions by pacing magical landscapes, where the changing light at all times carves curves and rocks, creating a unique ambiance.
In winter, the snow turns this unique steppe into a beautiful northern area where cross-country and track skiers enjoy the great outdoors.
The village of Aubrac is indissociable from Via Podiensis, one of the most frequented routes from Puy-en-Velay to Santiago de Compostela. This is witnessed by the Domerie, a monastery-hospital built in the 12th century to serve as a landmark and refuge for the poor and pilgrims against bad weather and brigands.
Laguiole is a cheese, a legendary knife known and recognized all over the world, but it is also a village! From the place of the faithrail, where proudly stands a bronze bull to which are attributed the virtues of lucky charm, the ascent to the church offers a panoramic view on the houses in basalt and granite covered with slate roofs.
Walking, you can only appreciate the exceptional flora and fauna of the Aubrac. It is one of the richest floras in Europe.
